When I started running March of 2010. I ran as many 5k as I could throughout the year. I think I ran 12 races in 2010. My first race was March 12, 2010. I only remember the date because that’s the day after my birthday. After my first 5k I was hooked- though it was only my 5th day of running, I couldn’t walk for a week and my time was 43:45 and I weighed 180 lbs. (3 months post pregnancy)

Then in the fall of 2010 one of my gym teachers said soon a 5k will be nothing. I laughed, I couldn’t even run 3 miles without stopping at that point. But she was right! I ran my first half 4/30/11 and then I scheduled a 1/2 almost every month for the rest of the year. And the other races are fill-ins if possible.

    Goals for 2012
Get thinner, faster, run more miles, and take great pics at races for my reports. :)

In 2012 I ran my first marathon! But I don’t see me loving those. [I do] I think the half’s seem more fun, less training & recovery and I can do more. But when I was running 5k’s I didn’t think I would love 1/2′s either.

    So what Marathon?? hmm
Sand Hollow – Hurricane, UT in March [check] 4:18:07
St George Marathon in Oct – signed up! I want to finish under 4.

My goal for the Half Marathon is to run one in 1:45 which is an 8 min mile, that is my goal for the Disneyland Half in September.  And heck I just ran the Dogtown in 8:15 avg!  But my goal for a downhill race is to run every mile under 8 minutes. That would be Utah Valley in June, Bryce Canyon in July or Parowan in August.  Lots of training, speedwork and miles in my future with these goals. :)

I met another Minnie and he didn't speak english! (That is a skirt he's wearing! =) This was sept 2011 and I was 12lbs heavier then now.

    In the future
I want to run all the “big” events. You know; New York, Chicago, Big Sur, and some fun Rock n Roll ones. I would love to meet fellow bloggers and runners and have a friend to run with too!

I would also like to do some races near family across the country!
My grandpa lives just outside of Wichita, KS
I have an uncle that lives in Fargo, ND
    Brother-in-law near Seattle, WA
Aunts and cousins in Oklahoma City, OK
Mom and sister near San Diego, CA – check
    Father-in-Law in Lake Havasu, AZ
Uncle-in-law in Denmark (yep Europe!) There’s a big half in Switzerland, marathon in Amsterdam or others. Our trip will definitely be planned around a race! Maybe when the boys are 5 & 7. :)

Do you have any races worthy of traveling to? Either with the whole family or meeting a girl to run with?

  • Well Amber, you have an ambitious schedule of races lined up for the future and I hope you make them all. I’m sure Erik and Mona would love you guys to come and race over there. Such a clean country! There’s just no end to your ambition and I think it’s great.
